Annemarie van Geel
Annemarie van Geel is a trainer for Pax Ludens in the fields of gender issues in the Middle East, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and nuclear proliferation. For the Foundation, she is actively engaged in training high-level career officers at the Netherlands Defence College on the complexities of the Middle East conflict. She also facilitates numerous simulations on nuclear proliferation at the Clingendael Institute.
Annemarie is the founder and owner of Faraasha Middle East Training & Advisory (www.faraasha.nl), in which capacity she gives workshops and training and advises (non)governmental organisations on Middle East affairs. Her specialities are gender issues in the Middle East; socio-political developments in the region; Islam; and the Arab-Israeli conflict. Annemarie is working towards her PhD at Nijmegen University in the Netherlands. Her fieldwork-based doctoral research focuses on gender segregation in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Yemen.
Annemarie lived in various countries in the Middle East for several years, travelled the region extensively and speaks fluent Arabic. She can regularly be found in Saudi Arabia as well as other countries in the Middle East.
