Open conference simulations

This open conference simulation brings together a group of ten to sixteen participants in a roundtable setting (e.g. a fictitious UN open conference), who engage with each other through a system of voting and proposals. The end-goal of this kind of exercise is to put forth a resolution or a memorandum of understanding that concerns the key issues at stake. An open conference simulation gives participants and spectators an understanding of complex negotiation dynamics and insight into a particular conflict. Furthermore, it prepares participants to practice their diplomatic and communication skills.

Learning objectives:

  • Gain in-depth knowledge about the case study at hand
  • Experience high-level decision-making in a complex environment
  • Acquire a greater understanding of intra- and inter-organisational tensions
  • Practice key negotiation, diplomatic and communication skills

Scenarios

  • Israel-Palestine negotiations
  • Cyprus conflict

An open conference simulation is also extremely suitable for tailor-made business cases.
